Mr. Bill Dyck began his extensive human services background during his college years at Briercrest College, Saskatchewan from 1955 to 1958. It was there that he worked with children and youth in the capacity of counsellor and teacher.
After graduation, Bill was a pastor at Glen Ewen, Sask and head counsellor/director of a teen camp from 1958 to 1961 in Estevan, Saskatchewan. Bill married Charlotte in 1961 and they moved to central Alberta to become Executive Directors of Youth for Christ from 1961 to 1965. Bill worked as an individual and group counsellor to teens, as well as, supervised and trained volunteer and full time staff. He also was a producer and television host of a program called "Teen Challenge". His experience and training then took him to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Bill began the Big Brother program in cooperation with the Winnipeg Juvenile Family Court. He recruited, trained and supervised over 50 Big Brothers for four years. He also co-founded a youth camp named Echo Island for juvenile delinquents, and led programs there each summer for four years. From 1970 to 1976, Bill moved with his family to Vancouver BC to become the Executive Director of a Vancouver and BC YFC. He carried many of the same duties as before, but was also the Senior Supervisor and counsellor of the organization heading up high school clubs and mass youth rallies.
After eighteen years experience in pastoral counselling, and as Director for Youth for Christ, Bill and his family decided to move to Fresno, California to attain his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. While in college Bill was a youth pastor with Charlotte at Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church. He graduated in 1978 at Fresno Pacific University and still managed to continue his fieldwork in counselling youth and parents. Bill continued his educational studies and went on to the MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, California and graduated in 1980 with a master's degree in Christian Education. He received his second Masters degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counselling in 1985 at Phillips Graduate Institute in L.A. During the years from 1980 to 1988 Bill handled all the business affairs of New Image and directing the work of Pacific Family Life, his family affairs and involvement in the local community.
Bill deepened his counselling interests in marriage and trained with PAIRS international in 1994. He trained as a 123 Magic teacher through child Management Inc. in 1996 and has trained over 1800 parents in this 3 hour Non-Spanking Seminar for parents with children under twelve in the Greater Vancouver area. In 1998, Bill trained with Interpersonal Communication Inc. to become Couples Communication training expert.
Bill has been affiliated with a number of associations. Some of these are as follows. Member of the Advisory Board of Briercrest Schools in Saskatchewan since 1970, Evangelical Fellowship of Canada Task Force of the Family during 1988-1990, BC Association of Clinical Counsellors No. 94 since 1988, the BC Council for the Family and the Canadian Counselling and Guidance Association from 1992-1993. From 1974 to 1982 Bill was President of Starline Enterprises, a family business and executor or the family estate.
Bill co-founded Pacific Family Life Counselling Inc. in 1980 and New Image Enterprises Ltd., a fashion company with his wife Charlotte in 1981. He was a director and secretary of D/S Holdings Ltd. from 1993 to 1995, President of Pak Fam Holdings Ltd. since 1993, Married for 41 years, Bill and Charlotte have two children and five grandchildren.
Bill's dream and vision is to develop Pacific Family Life Center in such a way that it will make a significant contribution to the well being of marriages and families in BC, Canada, and the world. It is his goal to help couples achieve thriving relationships just like he and his wife have had for the last 44 years.
Bill is now semi-retired and sees clients by special appointment only.
